Biography
Janice Colvin is an Associate Professor and chair of the Bachelor of Science program in Communication; the Master of Science in Digital Communication program; and the Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development program in the College of Technology. Dr. Colvin holds a doctorate in education, organizational leadership, from Wilmington University. She earned a Master of Arts in Journalism and Public Affairs from the American University in Washington, D.C., a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, and an Associate degree in General Studies from Prince George’s Community College, Largo, Maryland.
Dr. Colvin has more than 20 years of teaching experience in higher education. Her experience in the communication field spans more than 30 years, including positions as a newspaper editor, writer, and columnist, with awards from the Associated Press and others from journalism organizations; an editor and writer for several national aviation publications; and a technical editor and writer for an international software company. She is a contributing writer for the WilmU Magazine.
Dr. Colvin is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Society for Technical Communication. She contributes to her community as a Food Bank volunteer, and she held an appointment to the Cecil County, Maryland, Ethics Commission.
