Federal Student Aid

Many of our students use Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs—the most common form of financial aid—for tuition assistance. FSA programs are offered by the federal government to provide financial aid options that can help make your WilmU education even more affordable.

Coronavirus Information

Wilmington University wants all our students, faculty, and staff to be informed and aware regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Before registering for courses: please review your degree program requirements in Degree Works to ensure you are taking courses required for your academic program. Taking courses outside your program of study may affect your federal financial aid award.

There are three forms of FSA

Financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid.

Borrowed money; must be repaid (usually with interest).

Money earned through part-time employment.

How to Apply for Federal Student Aid

1. Create your FSA ID

An FSA ID is a username and password that enables access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and serves as a legal signature.

2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA form collects your current financial information so federal financial aid eligibility and an award amount can be determined by the federal government.

3. Use WilmU’s school code: 007948

Once we receive your FAFSA, we will email you to confirm receipt and provide your next necessary steps.

Adding Additional Resources

If you are receiving any assistance with your tuition outside of federal (FAFSA) financial aid like employer tuition payments (i.e. GUILD), scholarships, or other grants, be sure to indicate these anticipated payments in myWilmU when you are completing your financial aid requirements.  If you click on the “View My Award” link in myWilmU (under your requirements), there will be a tab labeled “Resources/Additional Information” where you can enter and submit this information.

Even if you don’t know the exact amount, an estimate is acceptable.  Submitting this information helps the financial aid office provide you with a more accurate initial aid offer that is less likely to be adjusted later due to the additional funding you may receive.  Please visit Conditions of Awards for more information.
