Below are essential steps you should take as early as possible in your bachelor’s or associate degree program to ensure you complete your degree on schedule. We’ve also provided key information to help you get the most out of your WilmU experience.
Staying on Track

Use Degree Works to know your course requirements.
Degree Works lists all your course and program requirements and keeps track of all the courses taken or transferred, so you know just which courses you have left to complete your program. Log in to MyWilmU, find My Academic Program, then select My Requirements (Degree Works). Learn more about Degree Works.

Take Your English and Math Placement Assessments right away.
Your English and Math course requirements are often prerequisites for your other required courses. Getting placed into the right courses for you and completing these requirements as early as possible is essential for your academic success and progress toward completing your degree. Contact your Enrollment Counselor for assistance enrolling in your first courses.
You can get in touch with an Enrollment Counselor by phone or online request from the Contact Us page on the University website. Your Enrollment Counselor is assigned to you according to your academic program, so be sure to select your Academic College when contacting us with your request.

Schedule an Academic Advising appointment for your personalized Educational Plan.
After enrolling in your first courses, meet with an Academic Advisor to create your personalized Educational Plan. Your advisor will listen to your goals, review your options (like Dual-Credit Advantage - below), then outline a long-term schedule for completing all your course and program requirements. You can then access and follow your Educational Plan online with Degree Works - so you’ll always know which courses to take for your next semester – and we can help you better along the way. Getting the Most from WilmU
Dual-Credit Advantage: accelerate your education while saving time and tuition.
Talk with an advisor about:
- Earning Two Credentials in One: You may be able to add a sought-after, specialized certificate to your bachelor’s degree program if you have core or free electives remaining. Find a certificate that complements your degree program.
- Considering graduate school? You may be able to replace bachelor’s-level courses in your program with master’s-level courses, giving you a head-start on completing a master’s degree. Learn more about Dual-Credit accelerated options.
Experiential Learning
- Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) allows you to earn college credit for knowledge you’ve already obtained outside the traditional classroom, such as industry-recognized certificates, credentials, or licenses, or corporate/military training programs.
