Required Ed Tech Trainings for Faculty

New Faculty Orientation (NFO)

All new faculty are required to complete the New Faculty Orientation (NFO) prior to being assigned their first class. This training covers many aspects of teaching at WilmU, including the best uses of Canvas and other WilmU educational technology tools.

WilmU Learning Center

Login to the WilmU Learning Center to view the schedule and register for instructor-led workshops. Both in-person and online options are available, offered by the Educational Technology Department, Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and the Library Department.

Pathway to Instructional Excellence (PIE)

The Pathways to Instructional Excellence (PIE) guides WilmU instructors through a competency-based curriculum, leading them to become more accomplished instructors that are better able to teach WilmU students.

Cyber Day

Cyber Day is a set of resources designed to help faculty keep learning momentum going in their classes when they need to cancel a face-to-face session. 

Technology Resources

Faculty, staff, and students that need help accessing or using the Canvas LMS or other ed tech tools, please contact the Help Desk during the support hours, via email helpdesk@wilmu.edu, on the phone at 1-877-708-2905, or using the live chat option.

Multimedia services involve technical support, creation of media-rich content, high-tech equipment, and special software.

Request Forms

Requests forms for Faculty and Staff

Please use the following forms to request training or support from the Educational Technology and Multimedia teams:

Photo, Video, and Multimedia Request

Request a photo, video, or multimedia project. Please note that video requests must be made a minimum of three weeks prior to the event or production. Virtual production (Webinar) requests must be made a minimum of 60 days prior to the event or production.

Group Training Request

Set up a group training for employees in your department to improve their skills on a specific technology topic. Please note that requests must be made a minimum of three weeks prior to the desired training date.

One-on-One Support Request

One-on-one appointments can be scheduled around your availability. This service is useful if you are need of assistance in a specific issue, or you prefer personalized help. To request an appointment, please complete this form. A member of the Educational Technology Team will then contact you to set up an appointment.

Request forms for Administrative Staff (program chair, director, and dean use only)

These forms are intended for program chair, director, and dean use only, to request support from the Educational Technology Systems team.

Teacher Assistant (TA) Enrollment Request

Use this form to request an instructor be added into a course as a TA, Observer, or Peer Mentor. Requests will be responded to within two business days. Teaching assistants in Canvas have the same ability that instructors have: building course content and viewing/assessing student work. 

3rd Party Integration Canvas Tool Request​

Use the following form to request the adoption of a 3rd party integration tool or publisher Digital Learning Tool in the Canvas LMS.  Tool requests are not automatically approved. The required review and integration process could take approximately 3-4 months (one semester of lead time is preferred).

Annual Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) Symposium

TLT is an annual full day professional development event designed to help instructors to incorporate new technologies into their teaching, techniques to engage students, and strategies to better utilize their intuition's learning management system.

WilmUTube

WilmUTube is Wilmington University's online video portal for publicly available student, faculty, and staff content. Everything from student TV shows, campus events, staff training, guest speakers, and more can be found on WilmUTube.
