Admission Deadlines

Students who wish to use a Wilmington University I-20 to become an F-1 visa holder are required to submit all required documents by the following deadlines.

Semester Deadline Date
Fall* July 31
Spring* November 30
Summer* March 31

Students transferring their SEVIS record from another school in the U.S. are not held to these deadlines.

*International student admission to Block 2 is reviewed on a case by case basis and is not available to students who do not meet certain requirements including but not limited to: applicants must be currently attending an institution in the U.S. and able to provide minimum English proficiency to be waived from all ESL courses.


Admission Checklists by Visa Type

Admission Checklist for F1 Visa

  • Wilmington University Application for Admission

  • $35 non-refundable application fee (paid at the time of submitting application)

  • Copy of a Valid Passport

  • Official Transcript Evaluation is required if educated outside of the U.S. or a U.S. territory (must be original). The agency must be a member of the NACES accreditation group (General report for High School, Detailed or Course-By-Course Report with GPA for college or university – Masters students must have an equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in the US; Doctorate students must have the equivalent of a Master's degree in the US). An evaluation is also required for any of the following circumstances:

    • An international high school diploma
    • A higher education institution transcript from a non-US institution
    • An institution not recognized by the Department of Education or an approved accrediting body
  • Affidavit of Support (must be signed and dated within 6 months of admission)

  • Bank Statement (minimum funds $23,550, must be within 6 months of admission)

  • Proof of Language Proficiency: TOEFL, TOEFL Essentials, IELTS, PTE, or Duo Lingo scores. Your eligibility for admission is based on these scores and you may be placed into mandatory English courses based on these scores. You can check the full ESL policy for further information.

  • If you are a first-time F-1 student traveling from abroad, you will first submit all required documentation to attend Wilmington University as an international student. You will then be issued the form I-20 (after all admissions requirements have been met) no more than 120 days prior to the program start date. With your Form I-20, you will pay the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee. SEVIS is the interface between the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and Wilmington University, and is used to administer your I-20. After the issuance of the Form I-20 and payment of the SEVIS fee, you will schedule a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy having jurisdiction over your location. Please visit the U.S. Embassy website for up-to-date information about Embassies and F-1 Visa application procedures. Once granted the F-1 Student Visa, you can enter the U.S. up to thirty (30) days before your program begins.

  • Immunization Record (proof of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination)

Admission Checklist for F1 TRANSFER STUDENT

  • Wilmington University Application for Admission

  • $35 non-refundable application fee (paid at the time of submitting application)

  • Copy of a Valid Passport, Visa, and I-94

Admission Checklist for Online International Students

  • Wilmington University Application for Admission and $35 non-refundable application fee

  • Official Transcripts from United States institutions
  • Official Transcript Evaluation is required if educated outside of the U.S. or a U.S. territory (must be original). The agency must be a member of the NACES accreditation group (General report for High School, Detailed or Course-By-Course Report with GPA for college or university – Masters students must have an equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in the US; Doctorate students must have the equivalent of a Master's degree in the US). An evaluation is also required for any of the following circumstances:

    • An international high school diploma
    • A higher education institution transcript from a non-US institution
    • An institution not recognized by the Department of Education or an approved accrediting body
  • Proof of Language Proficiency: ESL courses are not offered in an online format. Because of this, international students attending online from overseas much score high enough to be exempt from all ESL courses. Please see the ESL policy to review the required scores.
